By 2029 the new Boom Supersonic Overture Aircraft will Debut
Those of us who travel to live and live to travel are always on the lookout for deals. The future of travel depends on it.
Consider this enticing deal announced by United Airlines recently. They signed a contract to purchase 15 supersonic aircraft made by an aerospace firm called Boom Supersonic.
The aircraft have not even been tested yet but United has high hopes for these jets as the future of airplane travel. So much that if these initial 15 jets work out, they have the option to purchase 35 more in the far future past 2029.
How will this be good for the traveler?
First of all, these jets will get from point A to point B in record time. Forget flights of several hours long duration. These will get you there in half the time or less.
So far it sounds good. But what else?
The cost to the traveler can be as low as $100.
What? How can they manage that? Currently, $100 barely gets you a round-trip domestically in the U.S. and that is a hard-to-find deal.
United’s CEO, Scott Kirby apparently has a vision no one else does yet in the Airline industry. He wants to see it happen even if it takes 20 years. A true visionary willing to take the risk and make a plan for the sustainable future of travel.
Not only would it be cost-effective, or in words c-h-e-a-p, but the aircraft would be made in such a way that it could last longer due to the materials.
“The plane would also be carbon neutral, using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to achieve that goal.”
It would maximize fuel efficiency. Contrast to our current fleets that are dependent on fossil fuel and subject to the whims of the oil market. Prices go up, plane tickets go up. Not so with this new model.
Boom Supersonic also says these new jets will be relatively quiet and able to fly over land without breaking windows.
In the 1970’s France’s Concorde jets could only fly over the Atlantic Ocean due to noise restrictions over land. That would drastically change with the new Overture model. And while it is an “audacious goal” it is totally feasible. This isn’t the 1960’s because we’ve come a long way baby.
